Standard US Material Sizes
I’ve added this page for reference for hams who are trying to relate materials used in US antenna designs to what is locally available to them. And, honestly, some of these can be baffling even to those who have been using them for many years. For example, a “3/4 inch pipe” will have different diameters depending on what type of plastic it is made of, and a #8 screw, #8 wire, #8 drill, and #8 twine are all different diameters.
- Standard SAE screw sizes
- American Wire Gauge (AWG or B&S) sizes, used for copper wire in the US
- Birmingham Wire Gauge (BWG or SWG), used in the UK
- Iron pipe sizes
- Plastic pipe sizes
- Dimensions for Wood Products
- Aluminum Tubing sizes
